·         Art movement that started in the 1890’s in France by a (rebellious) group of friends
·         These artists were Post Post-Impressionist avant-garde
·         They used their interests in art and literature to create the art they created

Feminism

  • ·         An art style that communicates the accomplishments and successes of women
  • ·         Started in the 1960’s
  • ·         Feminists used the idea of “What makes us different than men?” as one of the ideas that was used
  • ·         Feminists used examples of men throughout history who dominated women and viewed woman as nothing but mothers of his children. This quickly turned into a Women's Rights movement
  • ·         Often use sexuality, Identity, power and human rights to communicate messages
