Typography Assignment

In CyberARTS, our class was assigned to make a Tagzedo. Tagzedo is a website where you can make a wordle with a bunch of words and make a funky design with them.

For my Tagzedo, I did a pear. I did a pear because they're my favourite fruit. I added words in it that describe my personality, my hobbies and what I like. For example, I put photography in there because i like taking pictures. I make bracelets as a hobby, so that's in there, and i love bands and music, so bands are in there as well.
On Monday nights, I'm a Beaver Leader, so Beavers are in there. I can be kind of annoying and weird; plus, I'm always tired.
I'm tall, i wear glasses and Converse high-tops.

I chose the colours because, I just liked them. I randomly picked them and I liked how the pink, red and green looked together with the pear shape; I thought it suited it well.

Class Assignment: School Garden Photos

School Garden Photos

In CyberARTS, we started photography. My class and I took cameras and walked to our school garden to take pictures. After we took the pictures, we uploaded them to a computer, and edited them slightly, to make them look more appealing. These are the pictures that I took:

This photo here I like because it doesn't
have anything distracting in the background. It has selective focus, which is great because you can focus on the flower, and only the flower. If you look closely, you can see a little bit of movement in the leaves on the left-hand side.

I love this photo because I just love the way the light behind the sunflower, makes the red show through the other side of the petals. The leaves on the right-hand side have the same effect, which i really like.

This is one of my favorites, because this photo has a great colour scheme of green and red. There is also something about the dirt around the radish that makes the redness stand out, which i love.

When I saw these little flowers, i just had to take a picture. What I like about them is how their pinky colour looks bold and bright against the dark of the green. The biggest flower has selective focus, which in a way, makes it stand out.

These peppers are great, because you can see the skin being reflected by the light, on the third pepper. The selective focus on the peppers is awesome, because it shows a little emphasis, which separates itself from the blurry background; but makes a cool effect.

These little orange flowers are so cute! I just love how they're arranged; big flower in the front, and smaller flowers, spread out from behind. The way the light orange fades into dark orange is quite pretty. Not bad for a photo taken by me, I think.

I'm not very good at taking pictures, but that's because i'm a beginner. Over the course of this unit, I hope to improve my skills. However, my artist statements aren't too good, so I'm sorry about that ;S I hope you liked my pictures! And you can expect another post in about a week or so. See you soon!

Third Class Carriage: Redone!

                                                               "Third Class Carriage"
                                                        Re-done By: CyberARTS Year 1

In CyberARTS, we had cards with a section of a painting on it, which we had to draw with Charcoal. When all of us were done, we put all our parts together, kind of like a puzzle. When we put it together, we made a reproduction of a real painting.  This is the Reproduction.

I think it turned out really well. There's a lot of line and shape in it, which help a lot to form the image. There is also quite a lot of texture in it from the charcoal. you can see the texture better when the value's a light grey to a darker grey; especially in the shading of the first lady's face on the right side. Even the background at the very top has alot of texture. There is also alot of contrast, because there is a huge difference between the darkest-dark and the light shades, which is great because you can see what's what in the image. For example, the top hat in the very top left hand corner. You can see it's a top hat by it's shape, but you can also tell because it's so much darker than the first lady's dress. or the second lady's face.

There is quite alot of emotion in this painting. The emotion is mostly in the people's faces. Like the boy that appears to be sleeping, the lady that's next to the boy; she looks tired, but has a happy-like grin on her face. And the mother holding her baby; she looks exhausted, but mostly looks like she's focusing on her child.
There is also emotion in the colours used also. Daumier used gloomy colours to symbolize what it was like to sit in the Third-Class part of a carriage in the 1840's. The people who sat in Third-Class were mostly poor people, who couldn't afford a First-Class ticket. Third-Class was dirty, cramped and the benches were hard to sit on. The yellows, blacks and browns symbolize the dirtiness of a third-class railway carriage.

The internationalism in this painting is limited. There is quite alot of realistic qualities in this painting, and they are mostly in the people. The three main people, the woman with child, the old lady and the boy, are the only people in the painting; that look realistic. The men and women in the background, don't have a lot of realistic qualities, as the two women and boy have.

The painter of the original painting; used a grid to complete it. He's quite known for painting with grids. And that's what my class and I tried to reproduce. Since we enlarged a section of the painting, the single pieces of paper (when put together) look like a giant grid.

Here's the original artwork:

Thumbprint Identity

[The Thumbprint That Looks Like a Foot]

In CyberARTS, our assignment was to to fill in a piece of paper with half-sentences; for example: I dream, I love, I see...And we would write a full sentence response. Then we took an ink pad, and pressed our thumb on it and printed it on a piece of paper. Our teacher then enlarged our thumbprint. Then we would get a piece of tracing paper, and trace over the lines of our enlarged thumb. After that, we took a permanent marker and wrote our sentences onto a piece of overhead plastic. Then we made a a watercolour background.

This is my thumbprint. I am a person who needs to include music into everything i do. And in this assignment, I have. When I say "Billie-Joe Armstrong", I'm talking about the front man of punk-rock band, Green Day. This has personal meaning for me because he is my favorite person in the whole world, he is my inspiration for everything I do, and I must include him in everything.
Close to the end of my thumbprint, I mention "Blink-182 sing about Warped Tour". I used that as a symbol because Blink-182 is another awesome punk rock band, who sing a song about a summer music festival that I have always wanted to go to.

I'm also a person who strongly believes that no one is Normal. It's a thing always makes me angry. I'm interested in this topic because everyone is different; no one is "Normal". I believe that "Normal" doesn't exist. I'm trying to communicate the message that everyone is unique and different, and can like and love and share and listen to whatever they want, without being judged by other people.

For the watercolour background, i chose blue. I chose blue because it's my favorite colour, and I find it very soothing and calming.
